The Dutch Fairy Came A-Calling...

Check out these gorgeous treats I found waiting for me when I got back from work today.

Awesome eh? Aside from the truly scrumptious stroop wafels - it's sinfully delicious, I promise - there was this gorgeous box of Dutch pear candies though I'm not sure if they were made from real pears. It looked too beautiful to eat but I persevered and had some. Yum.

I've not had the stroop wafels yet though I've given a piece to my sister. I bought loads when I went to the Netherlands in 2003 so she knows how good they are. I've not had it in a very long time and will probably savour one when she's not around so that she won't give me her puppy dog look and guilt me into giving her some more.

The best way to eat a stroop wafel is to place it on top of a steaming cup of coffee (or tea if you prefer), wait a minute or so and then eat it. It'll be all toasty warm and the caramel filling would be all melted. Just look at it.  Someone else had the same idea.  It's definitely the best way! Aaah... I've got a hankering to try one now.

Hey, I must suddenly able to understand Dutch coz I'm pretty certain laat means late! What a miracle! And look at that cute turtle. Aaawww...

I'm digressing though. The coup of this package is this gorgeous crystal-like keychain. It looks too good to be used. I feel like I should keep it in a very safe place. It even lights up, what do you know!

Since it's not too clear, this is what it says so you can probably understand why I'm just so thrilled!

And my Dutch Fairy took a better pic of it before she sent it off to me. Lucky thing she is the organised sort. Love you, Dutch Fairy! Mmwwwwaaaahhhh!!!
