Entrusted With A Little Piece of History

I had a little bit of shock when I opened my little package that arrived from Oregon, USA on Friday. The package itself was such a pleasant surprise but I was going, "NO! She didn't! Oh my God!" and more of the like after I read the accompanying card and I saw the size of the nicely and carefully wrapped packet within the postal package.

Oh indeed she did, that cheeky minx!  I am not so sure if this little treasure has been entrusted to the right person but golly, I will sure try my darnest best to take good care of it! Interesting how this is yet another book which I had not been reluctant to reread.  It must be fate then! ;)

Books were such works of art back then. Just look at the inside cover, it's an artwork in itself!  I've seen such books of course, but they were often dusty old tomes in the reference section of a library.  They were usually of the academic nature as well, not something of leisure-based literature.

There's even an inscription inside.  If my eyes did not deceive me, that said January 1924! Good God! I have in my possession a book that was gifted to someone 50 years before my birth! How surreal is that!

It's hard to imagine that the book has survived the passage of time in such mint condition, even as it looked so fragile. I feel like I should wear surgical gloves while I'm handling it. Truly amazing!  And if I may be so bold as to confess, a little daunting as well since I hope I could continue the tradition.  Yikes!

These were in the package as well.  I love those little old map-themed cards and the Halloween card is just the cutest! And Maria, if it isn't yet clear, even as I can't believe you did this, I am beyond thrilled! Thank you! You, my friend, are such a star!

That'a truly an amazing gift. The best ones are the ones that come from the heart with so much thought put into them
