Hard Evidence

Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2)Hard Evidence by Pamela Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yet another wonderful instalment in the series. Although it did not have the same effect on me as Extreme Exposure, it is still a great read. I reckon the very heavy topic of human trafficking made it more of a slow-burn kinda story rather than fast-paced, even though it did pick up pace at the end - I wanted to shoot Burien myself!!

Julian and Tessa are a delightful couple and their chemistry is fun to read about. Julian has so much scars and sadness in his life and it's great that he got his HEA with Tessa. I'm glad that Tessa overcame the ghosts in her own past and reconciled with her Mum too.

I also love the doses of humour that Pamela Clare adds in, it does remove the tension a wee bit. Hard Evidence is definitely darker than Extreme Exposure and it's amazing how Ms Clare was able to come up with an even more suspenseful breaking story for her I-Team reporters than the one she started the series with.

Allegiant

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)Allegiant by Veronica Roth
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had invested so much love and admiration into Tobias and Tris, especially the latter, for their strength and wisdom in such a difficult world that they lived in. Although that strength and wisdom faltered on and off, they remained true warriors and leaders till the end.

I have never understood how some authors could write such difficult conclusions for their lead protagonists and this is no exception. Sometimes it seems that the readers are more protective of them and only want to see them have a happy end. This did not have the HEA I had so desperately hoped and which Tris and Tobias so desperately deserved. Although I understand the need for that end and and impact that it gave, I cannot help but feel that it could have easily ended in another way. Feeling rather cheated and heartbroken now...

Interesting new mythos on vampires and dimensions. A little wordy in some parts but overall an enjoyable read. Can't wait to get to Sixth Earth!

Skinwalker

Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1)Skinwalker by Faith Hunter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have mixed feelings about this book. It's got interesting mythos and one can never go wrong with setting a paranormal/supernatural story in New Orleans. I adore Jane and Beast too, even though their inner battles can be a bit tiring at times, but that's usual with creatures as conflicted as them. I do think that the people surrounding Jane could be better developed. The only saving grace in her life seems to be her best friend, Molly. Perhaps, it'll get better as the story progresses and we actually get to meet Molly and her family.

Extreme Exposure

Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1)Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gosh, what an outstanding read! It unfolded like a film in my head and I couldn't put it down - finished it in two days! It's fast-paced and keeps you at the edge of your seat. There's enough thrills, emotional turmoil and romance to keep a reader engaged. Reece is such a sweetheart, and too good to be true, and every gal would like a grounded yet fun guy like him. Kara, is also wonderful despite the ghosts of her past. Connor is a true delight and a mother's dream, I'm sure. I liked the premise of the book, great investigative reporting! Truly adore a good story that still results in the happily-ever-after! Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
