Magic Tests - Watch Out for Julie Olsen-Daniels-Lennart, World!

An Apple for the Creature (Kate Daniels, #5.3)An Apple for the Creature by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Read only Magic Tests by Ilona Andrews.

Such a lovely read. It was nice to read something about Julie Olsen-Daniels-Lennart. The ward of Kate Daniels and Curran Lennart is definitely basking in the love and protection from her 'parents' and the Pack. She's proved her capabilities by solving this mystery. It wouldn't surprise me if Ilona Andrews starts another series based on Julie's adventures. :D

Primal Hunger

Primal Hunger (Pendragon Gargoyles, #1)Primal Hunger by Sydney Somers
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

An interesting story of Avalon and King Arthur though I felt the story was a little too rushed without any attempt to build on the backstory. It didn't seem fair on the the story or the characters. Hopefully the series will get better in time.

Curran POV Collection - His Furriness At His Best!

Curran POV CollectionCurran POV Collection by Gordon Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Curran, Curran, Curran... It's always a pleasure to get into His Furriness's head! It's also nice to see Kate from his perspective. I just adore this couple's dynamics. I hope there will be more Curran POVs in future and it is so very generous of Gordon Andrews to take the time to write this. I know some other authors wouldn't have bothered.

Magic Rises - Exceptionally Amazing!

Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6)Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just when I thought this series could not possibly get any better, Ilona Andrews hits us with this wonderful new adventure in Europe. I didn't think travel between the continents were possible so this new angle was an interesting surprise - who knew Saiman could sing so well! The introduction of yet another pantheon was truly delightful to read. It is obvious that the couple do extensive research but the way they have managed to weave all that into the plot is truly admirable and a talent that is not easily matched.

The pettiness and drama of the European shapeshifters truly leave much to be desired and I'm so glad that the Beast Lord runs a tight yet loyal Pack in Atlanta. Curran's behaviour was rather deplorable while among the Europeans but I'm glad he redeemed himself in the end. He still needs a lot of adapting to be in a truly enriching relationship. And who better to be with him than Kate!

Lastly, the single casualty at the end left me so devastated since I was just warming up to the character and of all the participants in the trip, this character should have been THE one to survive and enjoy the fruits of their labour. So, so sad...

Gunmetal Magic - Another Outstanding Addition to An Already Amazing Series

Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5)Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kate Daniels' world is the first story-setting that I've ever encountered hyenas as shapeshifters. Hyenas have never been a favourite animal of mine but Ilona Andrews have made them so 'human' that one can't help but love them, even with their faults. Gunmetal Magic is such an outstanding read with introduction to yet another new pantheon. It was fast-paced, engaging and humorous at just the right places that I find myself giggling like a hyena myself. I almost wish the story was even longer!

Magic Gifts

Magic Gifts (Kate Daniels, #5.4)Magic Gifts by Ilona Andrews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my! I'd forgotten how much I adore Kate and Curran. This was such a delightful read and reminded me why Kate and Curran's world appeal to me. I just love the couple's sense of humour and they complement each other so well. Can't wait to read more and may just go back and read again from book 1!

Born of Night

Born of Night (The League, #1)Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Interesting new series and characters even as Kiara irked me in the beginning. Nonetheless, I had difficulty reconciling the writing in this book with that of the Dark Hunters series, which has made me lose sleep on countless nights since I could never put them down. The writing here was choppy and the story and characters could have been developed better. Hopefully, it's only teething problems and the series will only improve henceforth. Look forward to reading more.

Blood Heat

Blood Heat (Blood Lines #4)Blood Heat by Maria Lima
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A slow start but got better towards the end. Wish the casualties in the pack could have been avoided. Gotta read the next book now, talk about cliffhanger!
